Figures highlight high corporate satisfaction – and bigger budgets for 2025

78% of companies report that they are either happy or very happy with their cloud migration projects. 72% of companies are increasing their 2025 budget for cloud technologies, cloud services and migration projects compared to the previous year – with around one in five boosting their budget by over 10%. This is particularly true for medium-sized enterprises.

It’s not too late

There’s still work to do – that’s one of the key findings of the Cloud Migration 2025 study. Only 38% of companies have implemented at least one cloud migration project to date. Of those that have, the satisfaction rate is exceptionally high, in part because 71% of companies adopted a strategic approach to their projects. On the one hand, this indicates that a carefully considered cloud strategy is likely to lead to success. On the other hand, it shows that the majority of companies have not yet launched or completed their first migration project.

A selection of the insights in the Cloud Migration 2025 study:
  • What benefits companies can access by migrating to cloud-based solutions
  • Where the most significant challenges lie in implementation
  • Which applications are top priorities for cloud migration
  • Which cloud migration methods are most popular at present
  • Why sustainability can be a decisive competitive factor
With this in mind, companies of various sizes are now investing in their cloud strategies.
  • Costs down, security and digitalization up

These are the top three benefits that companies associate with cloud migration. However, there are a number of other reasons to embark on your journey into the cloud. This include modernizing applications, improving compliance and increasing scalability.

  • Barriers to implementation

Companies name IT infrastructure as one of the most common technical barriers, followed by data protection and compliance requirements. Organizational aspects also have a role to play. In addition to the complexity of cloud migration, a lack of backing from management is also cited as a potential reason for faltering project implementation.

  • The risk without a multi-cloud strategy

Some companies underestimate the risk of what is known as “cloud vendor lock-in” – along with the potential negative impacts. For example, only 41% of companies consider the risk of being tied to a single cloud provider if problems arise as “high” or “very high”. A multi-cloud strategy is an effective means of countering this risk.
