By order of the Italian Fincantieri shipyards, the newbuild “Seabourn Encore” gets state-of-the-art network infrastructure.
Fincantieri and Lufthansa Industry Solutions have signed an agreement to provide IT solutions on the newbuild “Seabourn Encore” that the leading European shipyard will build for the ultra-luxury Carnival brand Seabourn.
Fincantieri has strengthen its relationship with Carnival Group and is building the first of two new Seabourn cruise ships, the “Seabourn Encore”, that will be delivered at the end of November 2016. The all-suite ship is approximately 41,000 gross tons, 210 metres long and 28 metres wide and will be able to reach a cruising speed of 18.6 knots. It will carry just 600 guests, based on double occupancy. Every suite will feature a private veranda.
Lufthansa Industry Solutions, as affirmed IT System Integrator in the maritime market, is providing the whole IT infrastructure of the luxury cruise ship that supports and integrates different systems. The IP-based high-performance platform contains extensive security and service offers, as well as offering passengers the greatest possible convenience.
Guests can telephone over a wireless data network, surf the Web, call for services, or watch live TV. What is more, additional applications, such as wireless LAN and the control of lighting, door locks, are combined in a single network structure, which lowers cabling and connection costs.
Lufthansa Industry Solutions already provided its solution to three previous Seabourn vessels - the cruise ships Sojourn, Odyssey and Quest. The holly-owned Lufthansa Company already works on another Fincantieri newbuild, the Holland America Line MS Koningsdam.
