Extended range of IT products and services for Hoteliers / Products for location intelligence, room automation, data analysis and advertising
Norderstedt, April 4, 2019 – Global tourism has witnessed strong growth over the last few decades. A total of 1,3 billion arrivals were recorded in 2017, about 84 million more than the preceding year, setting a new record. In 2017, tourism became the third largest export sector worldwide with revenues of USD 6 trillion, as reported in the newest edition of “Tourism Highlights” published by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
To take advantage of these trends and make a mark in this highly competitive market, hoteliers need to offer outstanding, state-of-the-art guest services. This calls for innovative software and infrastructure solutions.
Lufthansa Industry Solutions is showcasing a newly extended digital product portfolio for the hotel industry for the first time at the HITEC Europe 2019 fair from April 10th to 11th in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The integrated portfolio includes IT products that provide location intelligence, room automation and data analytics as well as advertising services that can generate income for hotel operators. In particular, the Velimo platform, specially developed for the hotel sector by the Lufthansa subsidiary, offers guests home-style convenience and hotel operators a tool to increase guest loyalty and retention.
Velimo provides access to a diverse range of digital content and smart services, with interfaces to mobile and TV devices, digital signage displays as well as room control. For instance, travelers can enjoy app-based control of room temperatures via Velimo, order breakfast and amenities to be delivered directly to their rooms, or obtain information about the hotel and local points of interest.
Velimo can be used by hotels to provide virtual key cards to their guests. This can also simplify the check-in process. If a guest is pre-registered using Velimo, the hotel network recognizes the guest’s smart phone as soon as they arrive at the hotel. A digital key card is automatically sent to the guest, giving them the option of proceeding to their room without having to wait in line at the reception desk. It’s also very easy for guests to control air conditioning from the poolside itself or order a drink to be delivered to their room.
Lufthansa Industry Solutions will be displaying its IT solutions for the hotel industry in Stall 133 of HITEC Europe 2019. The trade fair will be held from April 9 to 11 at the Palau de Congressos, Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
