Double materiality assessment

Lufthansa Industry Solutions expands ESG its platform EPACTO with a software solution from Schleupen

The ESG reporting platform EPACTO, developed by Lufthansa Industry Solutions, will be extended by the GRC software (Governance, Risk & Compliance) of the software company Schleupen. A central component of the extension is the integration of the double materiality assessment, which is important for ESG reporting. The strategic partnership between Lufthansa Industry Solutions and Schleupen underlines the hub approach of EPACTO and marks the beginning of a series of further partnerships.

Norderstedt, November 11, 2024 - "With this partnership, we are responding to the increasing demand for integrated solutions. EPACTO combined with Schleupen's GRC expertise enables efficient, comprehensive and, above all, user-friendly sustainability and compliance management," says Klaus Zabel, Business Director Energy at Lufthansa Industry Solutions. The core of the cooperation is the integration of a double materiality assessment. This involves a joint assessment of the financial materiality of sustainability issues in combination with their environmental and social relevance.

The Schleupen software automates key processes, reduces manual intervention and minimizes sources of error. "Our solution enables an audit-proof, system-supported implementation of the Double Materiality Assessment- including documentation. The results are seamlessly transferred to EPACTO, which significantly simplifies and accelerates the entire sustainability reporting process," explains Gregor Fies, who is responsible for GRC software at Schleupen.

The new solution offers a huge advantage in terms of efficiency and accuracy compared to the conventional, manual execution of the double materiality assessment. Klaus Zabel of Lufthansa Industry Solutions: "The automatic recording and mapping of the documentation required for the audit in the system leads to significant time savings."

EPACTO as the core of effective sustainability management

The integration of the Schleupen software is another building block in the continuous development of EPACTO (ESG Performance Accounting Tool). This tool brings together all sustainability-relevant data from the different areas of the company. The software thus forms the core of a platform for companies that are looking for a powerful tool to meet with the complex requirements of sustainability management.

The partnership between the two companies covers both technical and sales aspects. In addition to system integration, the two companies will also coordinate their sales activities and support each other. Lufthansa Industry Solutions will also provide expert advice on other topics related to the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

In the future, other providers will extend the EPACTO hub to further emphasize the holistic approach and add new technical solutions, such as the tool provider "ECOSPEED" to calculate carbon footprints and "prewave" to consider risk management in the supply chain and compliance with legal regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
