Norderstedt, April 13, 2018 – Drone technology is really taking off. Innovative models and features are creating new uses, especially for industry. Pilot projects have already put the unmanned aircraft to use, such as for inventories in the logistics and automotive industries. Hence it is important to take stock of the potentials these small flying objects can offer to business in general.
Lufthansa Industry Solutions has now developed a use case for managing drone fleets with SAP Leonardo, which makes live monitoring in real time possible, as well as visualization. Today’s condition monitoring solutions, by contrast, work on the basis of log files and can only evaluate data post-flight.
The advantages of the new IT solution from Lufthansa Industry Solutions are obvious: During the entire deployment, the drone’s sensors report safety-critical data – such as vibrations, temperature or flows – back to ground control, where they are analyzed and displayed on the dashboard in real time. For the operator, this means that impending damages can be identified early on and maintenance notifications automatically generated.
The drone solution is one of six Industry 4.0 exhibits Lufthansa Industry Solutions is presenting at this year’s Hanover Trade Fair. Visitors can explore for themselves all the practical use cases on display at Booth H17 in Hall 6.
