Norderstedt, February 14, 2017 – The digital transformation is forcing companies to fundamentally reposition themselves. In the process, their IT departments are intended to take on a leading role. Often, however, the specialist divisions only see IT departments as reactive service providers, too static and too slow for innovative projects. Does digitization in companies mean the end of the traditional IT divisions?
This question is taken up by Franz-Helmut Gerhards (DAK – Gesundheit Unternehmen Leben) and Heiko Packwitz (Lufthansa Industry Solutions) in the roundtable discussion of “Digitization – the End of Traditional IT?” at the IT Strategy Days in Hamburg. Together with the other participants, these IT experts question the self-conception and the competences of IT divisions, and discuss how they can readjust their orientation to accomplish the tasks entailed by the digital transformation. What must traditional IT abandon in order to be agile? Is the separation in specialist divisions and IT even appropriate anymore?
This year’s motto of the Hamburg IT Strategy Days, being held by Hamburg@work, FAKTOR 3 LIVE and CIO Magazine, is “IT´S ALL ABOUT SPEED – Strategies for the Digital Transformation”. At the Hotel Grand Elysée on February 16 and 17, 2017, around 750 CIOs and IT decision-makers are meeting to discuss the strategies, skills, and management approaches CIOs can use to move their companies forward.
Lufthansa Industry Solutions is an underwriter of the Hamburg IT Strategy Days and is taking part in the event with an information booth and a discussion forum. The roundtable discussion of “Digitization – the End of Traditional IT?” is being held from 12:40 to 1:25 pm on February 16, 2017.
