Following the foundation of the Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg (ARIC) e. V. four weeks ago, the organizational structure and further development of the ARIC was given the go-ahead in Hamburg’s City Hall today in the presence of Michael Westhagemann, the Senator for Economics, Transport and Innovation for Hamburg.
Norderstedt, September 30, 2019 – Go-ahead for the Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg (ARIC) in Hamburg’s City Hall: The competence center is set to bundle expertise across disciplines and industries in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and promote the AI ecosystem in the Hanseatic city. Companies of different sizes and industries as well as scientific parties from universities and research institutions have initiated the ARIC as a link between practice-oriented application and application-oriented research in the field of artificial intelligence. Lufthansa Industry Solutions is a founding member of ARIC.

The important thing now is to allocate resources, capacity, and investment and to start working on tangible cases. The competence center provides us with the right framework to promote the topic of AI together.”
The work focuses on the initiation of pilot projects, the interdisciplinary application and distribution of AI-related expertise as well as the promotion of research and development cooperation between industry, science and society. The main focus of the competence center is the initiation of a comprehensive knowledge transfer in the field of AI between industry, science and society as well as providing interdisciplinary target group-specific formats for events and education, as well as the initiation and support of application-oriented R&D projects.
A nationwide exchange with AI experts, centers and multipliers is also planned in order to detect current trends, developments and best practice examples and to promote and network the AI ecosystem in Germany.
The competence center will be based in Hamburg’s Dockland.
